At the Archives we are continually working on our social media outreach initiatives. It is something we do off the sides of our desks that has great value in reaching beyond the walls of the Archives and sharing our holdings with a wider audience often in new ways. This past summer the Archives was pleased to have a Communications intern from Concordia University helping us improve and expand our social media activities, Jesse Cumming. Jesse worked on many projects during the two months he was in Vancouver and you will see many of the fruits of his labour featured in blog posts this fall.
We hope that you have visited our Twitter, Flickr, HistoryPin, YouTube or Internet Archive pages and found this content useful and interesting. One omission, however, has been our lack of Facebook presence, an absence which is no more. Jesse spent some of his time setting up a Facebook page for us and finding content to share on it. We are thrilled to announce the unveiling of our very brand new Facebook page, which you can find here.
Utilizing the time-line feature we’ve included a number of photos from throughout the Archives’ history. Jesse dug around to find some photos of the Archives in the 1970s, images from our screening at VanCity theatre last year, and a number of neat cover photos, though they’re just the start. We’re excited to use it more in the future and hope that you’ll join us.
So drop by, take a look, and maybe even “like” us if you feel so inclined!
